Alan and Carol's October Wedding at Old Thorns Manor House
Carol has known me since I was born; she and her family lived opposite my family home, and she went to school with my older sister. I met Alan many years ago when they got together and they have remained close friends of the family. It was a real privilege for me to be asked to take their wedding photographs when they decided to tie the knot in October last year after many years as a couple and two children together. It is always special to photograph friends and family members on their big days, not only as I get to be surrounded by the banter of people I already know very well, but also for the opportunity to capture a memory for them which will last forever.
There was a theme throughout the day of stars and moons, reflecting the couple's interest in astronomy and tying in colour-wise to Carol's Scottish heritage. Sumptuous midnight blues and glistening silvers were mixed with thistles, the national flower of Scotland. Carol's gorgeous bouquet contained all of these alongside cream roses, and she spent time with a jewellery designer coming up with this wonderful shimmering star tiara.

Olly & Abby's Wintery Upwaltham Wedding
Olly and Abby chose Upwaltham Barns in West Sussex for their magical wintery wedding on 4th December last year. They were blessed with the perfect winter day; cold, crisp and clear, and though the weather was chilly, the day itself was filled with heartfelt emotion and warmth. Right from the outset I knew this couple were going to be great fun to photograph. We always had a good giggle together, and from initial meetings to the engagement shoot they would always arrive with their hilarious dog in tow, a dog they fully acknowledged looked a lot more closely related to a fox!
I started out at Flintstone Cottages in Aldingbourne with Olly and his two Best Men. I managed to lure the gents out into the gardens for this atmospheric shot showing off the sweeping winter light. I love how the long shadows emphasise the rather 'catalogue model' or even 'James-Bond-esque' poses the guys are strutting!

I was very excited about shooting Sarah and Chris’ wedding, which took place at Rivington Hall Barn in Manchester. Most of the weddings I do are at venues across Sussex and Hampshire so it was great to go further afield and shoot somewhere completely different. It was also a pleasure to get to know Sarah and Chris who were absolutely lovely. They were obviously pre-destined to be together as they conveniently shared the same surname!
Sarah and Chris had picked a stunning venue for their wedding day. Rivington Hall Barn is a historic Grade II listed building that dates back to the 12th century and still retains lots of its gorgeous original features including the huge Saxon beams. Surrounded by lush green fields with plenty of trees and long grass, it was the perfect location for creating some magical scenic photos. To complement the warm tones of the historic barn, Sarah and Chris chose a subtle orange theme which was accentuated by the glorious sunshine we enjoyed on their beautiful August wedding day. With lots of personal touches and stylish displays of calla lilies, they had created a really classy and artistic wedding that I couldn't wait to photograph.
When we were discussing their wedding photography, Sarah and Chris were really drawn to images that used lots of sultry lighting and they wanted to combine this style with plenty of traditional and romantic photos. This shot of the couple soaking up the last rays of sunshine in the picturesque gardens of the venue has got to be my favourite from the day, I love the warm tones from the sun and the moody lighting.
